UTT McDonnell Douglas MD-11 - American Airlines' 1968 Livery
As I tried to add 1990s American Airlines flight plans to my FS2004 world, I became increasingly annoyed as I tried to find repaints of MD-11s in American's livery, finding many issues with existing repaints of AI MD-11 aircraft in American Airlines' 1968 livery - ranging from not so great quality due to the texture consisting of re-sized photos because the painter was trying to achieve a photorealistic look, to logo size/color/font/kerning issues, to details/accuracy like window count, etc. Because of this, I decided to do my own repaint.
Unfortunately, this was before I learned about the issues with UTT and what they were doing with the models others created. Either way, I decided to finish it, since I had put a lot of work into it, instead of hunting down yet another model, finding repaints, becoming frustrated about their quality or lack thereof, and doing my own repaint again.
This is the current state of it, I'd say about 99% done if not 100% done:
A stark contrast to the very first version of it I threw together when I began this adventure:
Again: I know about the issues with UTT, what they did with the models, etc, but I still feel like since the model exists, and people are still using it - plus the fact that I put a lot of work into it - I'm gonna upload it for people to download.
